QuickBooks  Online Advanced Course: Basic-Intermediate Level

This course is designed for participants who want to build a solid foundation in QuickBooks  Online Advanced and progress to intermediate features used in the accounting management of small businesses, entrepreneurial ventures, and professional offices.

Through 12 hours of hands-on training, participants will learn how to set up a company, organize the Chart of Accounts, record transactions, manage customers and vendors, reconcile bank accounts, generate financial reports, and use advanced tools such as user roles, custom fields, customized reports, automations, and batch transactions.

Overall Objective

Equip participants to use QuickBooks Online Advanced efficiently, understand basic and intermediate accounting workflows, and apply tools that facilitate business organization, control, and financial analysis.

  • Identify the main QuickBooks Online Advanced interface and its work areas.
  • Configure a company’s basic information and accounting preferences.
  • Create, edit, and organize the Chart of Accounts according to the business structure (NAICS code).
  • Set up customers, vendors, products, and services.
  • Process invoices, payment receipts, expenses, Accounts Receivable (A/R), and Accounts Payable (A/P).
  • Connect bank accounts, categorize transactions, and perform reconciliations.
  • Generate basic financial reports and understand how they support decision-making.
  • Explore QuickBooks Online Advanced features such as users, permissions, custom fields, customized reports, batch transactions, and workflows.

  • Navigation of the main dashboard, menus, and settings center.
  • Company setup: tax information, preferences, currency, dates, and accounting methods.
  • Chart of Accounts: creating, editing, classifying, deactivating accounts, and setting up subaccounts.
  • Initial setup of customers, vendors, products, and services.
  • Hands-on exercise: create a sample company and organize the system’s basic structure.
Module 2: Sales, Purchases, and Transaction Management
  • Sales workflow: estimates, invoices, sales receipts, customer payments, and credit memos.
  • Purchasing workflow: expenses, bills, vendor payments, and vendor credits.
  • Managing Accounts Receivable (A/R) and Accounts Payable (A/P).
  • Using products, services, categories, and sales tax, as applicable.
  • Recording deposits, transfers, and basic journal entries.
  • Hands-on exercise: complete a full sales and purchasing cycle in QuickBooks Online Advanced.

  • Basic interpretation of reports for financial control and decision-making.
  • Hands-on exercise: reconcile a bank account and review financial reports.
Module 4: Advanced Features, Review, and Final Practice
  • Users, roles, and permissions in QuickBooks Online Advanced.

  • Best practices for period-end closing, book review, and internal controls.
